Life is what we make it, ~ Grandma Moses |
For three decades I have studied, taught and worked within multiple facets of the healing arts, from cooking to yoga and more. My greatest joy comes in sharing the transformational powers of these arts with others.
My culinary romance began simply and unexpectedly, at a cafe in my college town to earn some money while in school. After graduating, I continued to work as a chef at a health-food restaurant; it was just when macrobiotics was gaining momentum in the United States. Many aspects of a macrobiotic cuisine attracted me: the indigenous and seasonal focus of the foods, the beautiful Japanese attention to presentation, and an exciting new palette of colors and textures, many of which were from the sea. For the first time in this country, significant numbers of people were turning to their diet, mostly as a last resort, to heal their cancer. Our restaurant soon became a macrobiotic center and I felt like I couldn’t learn or cook fast enough to satiate the growing appetite of many, many customers. The deeply rewarding gift of nourishing people became my life path. I began traveling as a guest chef and cooking instructor, and opened another macrobiotic center. I also worked as a private chef to a number of people, including Merce Cunningham and his dance company. I was honored to be his personal chef at The Kennedy Center’s Honor Program when he received his Lifetime Achievement Award in 1985. My personal cuisine has evolved from macrobiotics into more living foods and less carbohydrates. With my varied experience, though, I can offer guidance in all approaches to healthy eating, depending on your goals and the needs of your family members. |
Yogic Arts After years in the kitchen, I began to seek a balance within my own life and it was then that I found yoga. It was a perfect union, and I became certified at Kripalu Yoga Center in Massachusetts. Once again, I had no idea that I would go on to teach thousands of people, though I did know that yoga was in my life to stay. I went on to complete advanced Hatha teacher trainings and studied a number of other styles. After listening to many students beg for an attainable and maintainable yoga routine, I finally wrote one. It is now a book, Yoga In Bed: awakening body, mind & spirit in fifteen minutes. For more details and a peek inside, please visit the Yoga In Bed page on this web site. |
Naomi's caring and sincerity totally

The Art of Living Fully & Naturally My passion for embracing new tools and making a difference
in people’s quality of life appears endless! I have been blessed
to have access to so many diverse teachings and cultures, and incredibly
gifted teachers. I met Naomi through her yoga class which is how I learned that she has an exceptional capacity for attention. Based on her comprehensive knowledge of the body, she made observations, comments, and suggestions that opened her students to new levels of awareness. Her spiritual energy transformed our yoga class into a journey which led toward expansion and evolution. Naomi is a pure spirit who lives her life mindfully, providing clarity and care for those around her. She is a continuing source of inspiration. - Gerri Marielle - writer - NYC, NY On a personal note, I am the mother of two young men and still find time to explore the artistic passions of my teenage years! I truly live the optimistic, green and 100% organic lifestyle that I encourage. I believe in the law of attraction and that our thoughts create who we are. Thank you for taking the time and energy to learn more about me and my offerings. I welcome the opportunity to meet you and work together, either in person or long distance! I reside in Southern California and have the pleasure of working with clients from coast to coast. ~~ Naomi |
